Why do Sudan’s coup leaders keep silent when it comes to armed militias phenomenon?
The armed militias are multiplying in Sudan adding up to those already existing long list of armed movements aa well as the Rapid Support Forces, a matter that will push the country towards the verge of total chaos. The question is why the coup authorities remain silent about this situation?

Security experts and political analysts attribute the surge of these militias to the unstable security situation which has been prevailing in the country since the onset of October 25th coup.
The most prominent of these armed groups are Army of the North, East Sudan Parties and Movements Coalition Forces led by Shiba Dirar, Sudan Shield led by General Abu Aagla Kikl and Al Butana Shield led by Brigadier Al Swarmi Khalid Saad.
Most of these groups affirm that they resorted to idea solely to serve as balance to the Darfur and the Blue Nile movements whose existence has been legitimized through official agreements and have become part of the ruling and wealth sharing pact.
Campaigns
An informed source told Altaghyeer that the security apparatus are monitoring these armed groups, particularly Sudan Shield, and that they launched campaigns for collecting their weapons.
But the source did not exclude an intention by the senior leaders of the Sovereign Council to maintain these bodies (toothless ) and use them when need arises.
The source said that security organs are not keen to apprehend leaders of these entities or eliminate them, perhaps they want to create certain balances.
Calamities
Security expert General Osman Fagarai has described the on going militarization and militias formation as a serious (calamity). Al Burhan is responsible for this ordeal.
He accused leaders of the Sovereign Council of being behind these militias which are recruiting new elements in broad daylight and make public their programs and activities inside the capital.
Fagarai did not exclude involvement of the ousted regime in creating these militias but, he said, those directly responsible for this situation are 5 generals in the Sovereign Council.
He called for immediate demobilization of these militias because they pose an imminent security threat that may fuel a civil war.
Concepts
Minister of Defence in the shadow government Ms Assma Mirghani said formation of armed civilian groups on ethnic or region basis reflects that the Sudanese politicians are reducing the concept of the state to a mere power holding.
She said the various shortcomings of the ruling systems in the Sudan since independence have led to infinite crises. These systems have caused some ethnic groups or communities to think that it is difficult, if not impossible, for them to obtain their due rights in wealth, power and balanced development without them carrying arms against the state.
Al Mirghani said that the political system which is based on popular sovereignty and just distribution of development and opportunities is the fundamental condition for political stability. The resulted stable economic and security situation will help in halting breeding more and more armed groups.
