Tazewell County authorities have confirmed that a woman from Washington and a minor are the parents of a child born earlier this year. The announcement was made by prosecutors during a court hearing on Tuesday.

Details on the Case

The probable cause affidavit revealed that DNA testing identified Robyn Polston, 43, as the mother of the baby. The alleged father is a minor who is reportedly the victim in this case. Polston faces serious charges, including:

  • Two counts of criminal sexual assault
  • Two counts of child pornography

These crimes are said to have occurred during 2024 and 2025.

Evidence and Investigation

Investigators uncovered a significant amount of explicit content involving Polston and the minor. This evidence came from an analysis of cellphone accounts. Notably, Polston and the minor allegedly used burner phones to conceal their identities.

Additionally, prosecutors claimed Polston attempted to involve the minor in a coverup. They expressed concerns about Polston’s ability to avoid contact with the child, stating that her family members—specifically her mother and sister—have also enabled her actions.

Legal Proceedings

During the hearing, Associate Judge Derek Asbury decided to keep Polston in custody while the case unfolds. Prosecutors argued that she would likely violate any release conditions. Polston’s next scheduled court appearance is set for December 4.
