Seth Rogen Blacklisted from Emmy Presenting Duties, But Wins Big with “The Studio”
Seth Rogen’s Frank Remarks Stir Controversy at the Emmys
Seth Rogen, renowned for his role in “The Studio,” stirred up the Television Academy during a revealing interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”. The actor humorously speculated about being blacklisted from presenting at future Emmy Awards due to unscripted comments he made while presenting an award in 2021. “I do have that theory,” Rogen quipped, noting that he hasn’t been invited back since the incident.
COVID Regulations Ignored During the 2021 Emmys
Rogen recalled how COVID safety measures during the 2021 ceremony were less stringent than promised. Guests found themselves in a tent with hundreds of attendees, despite assurances of an outdoor setup.
“Let me start by saying there are way too many of us in this little room,” Rogen remarked during the event. He criticized the setup, pointing out discrepancies between what was communicated and the reality. “It was not an outdoor event,” he asserted.
Producers’ Backlash and Kimmel’s Jest
Following Rogen’s unfiltered comments, producers expressed their displeasure. Jimmy Kimmel, who has hosted the Emmys multiple times, jested with Rogen, suggesting, “I checked today… and you are indeed banned from presenting.” Rogen, taking it in stride, acknowledged the backlash, stating, “I went very offbook and made them look bad. So, I get that.”
Rising Above the Controversy
Despite the presenting ban, Rogen’s talent shone through at the 2025 Emmys. His Apple TV+ comedy, “The Studio,” triumphed with an impressive 13 awards, including Best Comedy Series and Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Though his presenting days at the Emmys may be on hold, Rogen’s success in the industry is undeniable.
